The Christmas Gift
One day a little before Christmas my mom and dad were fighting again, not just about anything, about us getting presents this year. Well I sat and waited till the fight was over and I walked in there. My mom and dad were gone, I just sat and cried. I knew that it would be a hard Christmas for all of us especially me, I was always happy to see all the presents. Plus, I knew how bad it would be for my brothers and sisters. Since I was 3 I knew that santa wasn’t real, as so I thought.
A day after I saw my parents make up and hug. They said they would try to get things together for us. I guess they were trying, I didn’t think hard enough.
On Christmas eve, at 3:00 am, I walked into the living room, feeling beaten. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a man in a red suit. I heard him say something to me before going into the chimney.
“Love is the greatest gift of all.”
I looked around the room and thought of all the blessings I have, good food, warm house, and a loving family. I knew now that no Christmas would be hard anymore, because we have each other. Santa might not be a person, but I know he is a spirit. From that day on I believed in santa, and his wonderful blessings bestowed on us.
