The Girl that Never Was

Once there was a girl who lived very far from me.
How we came in contact you’ll see.
My Dad met a lady on the Internet and became close friends with her.
One day they were talking about me,
then she told him about “T.”
They thought we should talk. Then while eating with my Dad he showed me a picture of a girl he knew I would admire. I took one look and dropped my chin.
She was the most beautiful woman my eyes have ever seen.
I knew she could be my Queen.
So I asked him to tell me about this sexy woman. He told me what I have always looked for in a girl plus more than I ever imagined. She was an athlete and an A student. She goes to church, keeps tan, is very mature and sweet as candy, and lots more. I knew I had to meet this angel face to face so I got her number from my Dad and called her that same night. I let it ring forever when…for the first time I heard her soft voice. She didn’t answer, so I left a message and fell asleep waiting for her call. The next day…no call, so I tried again. This time I was surprised by the sound I heard the night before. Her voice said hello. My tongue sunk in the back of my throat. I was unable to believe this was really happening. We talked for hours about each others lives. I grew a little more eager to meet T. She was playing a softball game in Dallas so that’s where we planned to meet. I had been talking to her every night for awhile and it was time to see the person on the other side of the phone. I drove to Dallas in a hurry because I could not wait to see her. I beat them to the hotel they were staying at and became very nervous about how I looked. It was late before long and then a call. It was her. She said that her coach made them stay in their rooms. That was crazy. We were finally in the same building yet could not meet. T had softball games in the morning that I was going to watch. I woke up excited as ever, put my best outfit on and cleaned myself up. I went to the park and saw her pitching. Her game had already begun so we couldn’t talk yet. She was so perfect only God could create this miracle. After they won their game, she went up to me and gave me a hug. I was shocked by her height. She was tall, even better. We talked on and on like we knew each other for years. It was getting late and I had to work early the next morning, but I didn’t care. I went to eat with her and her team. They seemed to accept me which was a plus. Our time together was running out so we escaped outside to be alone. Our eyes never separated until we kissed. I can’t explain the feeling that spread through my body. Let’s just say an infinity of pleasure was in me before she had to go. My mind was distorted all the way home. I couldn’t stop thinking about every detail of my wonder girl. She kept on becoming better the more I played our evening back in my head. I couldn’t stay away from her for long, so I had to plan our next meeting soon. Our conflicting schedules made it difficult to do so. At the time there was no doubt in my mind we were meant to be. We met for a short time in my town. We were perfect, no flaws in our relationship, but she had to leave. She had to drive to her aunt’s house in the morning and stay for a night then drive the rest of the way home that next day. I was not ready to let go yet. I had to go with her to Lubbock so we could have one more magical night together. It was our last. After she kissed me goodbye, we slowly grew apart by the distance of our hearts, losing our spark which had started a fire in both of our souls. Day by day our fire burned itself out, ashes to ashes, dust to dust;
a love that was pure and rare was gone, vanishing in the hot summer’s gust.
T, if you can hear me now, I am thinking of you still and always will. You were my every wish a girl could ever be. I miss you, T. A hole will take your place for now and forever.
As long as you can’t be next to me holding on to one another.
Will you ever come back in my life?
No you are to be some other man’s wife.
I wish you the best,
but I will always be with you in your chest.
Our love and memories are saved in a safe place deep in your heart. You might not realize you have them, but they’re in there every time you get a reminder and think of me.
I know if it were meant to be we would have been but we’re not, that’s destiny.
I guess you were the one that got away, I will say, every time you pop up in my conversation with friends.

Goodbye My Love

The End.
