Part 5; The Choice

Tim crawled up the deserted San Clemente beach in the thunder, lightning, and rain.  Tim lay down in the wet sand for a second, then stood up and tried to make his way back up the beach, toward the towering cliffs.

As soon as Tim made it to the walkway to the cliffs above, Tim was blasted by a huge ocean wave.  Tim quickly scrambled up the walkway to the cliffs above.

Tim was out in the parking lot looking down at the beach when out of his peripheral vision, saw a man standing on the edge of the cliff staring at the huge storm.  It was Michael.

"Michael!" yelled Tim.  "What are you doing here?"

"Why Tim, hadn't you already figured this out?  I am merely here to view the fine scenery and listen to the seagulls." said Michael.

"Really?  What's going on?" asked Tim out of fear and confusion.

"Tim.  I was the one who hit the police cruiser you were in.  It is my fault that Joe and your family is dead."

"What?" cried Tim.  "My family, dead.  You...   Why?" asked Tim shocked with disbelief.  It couldn't be true!

"Tim.  I have already told you too much."  For the first time, Michael turned around and faced Tim.  However, Michael was holding a gun at Tim.  Tim, however, started becoming enraged and furious at Michael.  Tim lost control, and in a flash was hitting Michael with heavy blows to the head.  Little did both of them know, policemen had pulled into the parking lot.

Tim forced the gun from Michael, and Tim shot Michael 4 times in the chest.  Michael stepped backward in pain and fell off of the top of the cliffs.  Tim stood in amazement as policemen surrounded him.  Tim turned his back to the cliffs, and his face toward the policemen.  Tim took two steps backward, and all became silent.  Tim then took another step and fell backward over the side of the cliffs.  Falling to the ground below, Tim looked up and the last sound that he heard was the calling of the seagulls.
