Bread of Thought

Is it better to starve or to eat the dirtiest, filthiest, most disease-ridden piece of bread laying in the gutter?

I know the answer to this question, let me tell a little story.....

People all have their own unique (or not so unique) tastes. Some like their bread hot, others cold, others burnt, others nice and soft. Regardless of your preference, you will very likely never truly be satisfied. For the minute you find the perfect piece of bread, you devour it and then it is gone forever. And thus, perfection is destroyed in an instant.

Knowing this, it becomes clear to see that no matter how hard you try to not instantly devour that perfect piece of bread, its perfection gets smaller and smaller until it is gone. Some are able to handle this responsibility, but regardless of how much care, money, and effort you put into it, the perfection is always destroyed.

After awhile, you stop looking for that perfect piece of bread, and you start to lower your standards to try and get rid of your hunger. If, however, you still cannot destroy your hunger, you continue to lower and lower your standards until you become satisfied with the dirtiest, filthiest, most disease-ridden piece of bread laying in the gutter. Then, who is the lucky one? Is it the man who, after not finding his perfect piece of bread, gave up and had his hunger consume him? Or, is it the man who continued to lower his standards to find any bread available?
